Armenia Secures More Olympic Berths

Another three Armenian athletes have won the right to participate in the Olympic Games in Beijing, China, August 8-24.

In the last Greco-Roman Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Novi Sad, Serbia, representatives from Armenia Karen Mnatsakanyan (60 kg), Arsen Julfalakyan (74 kg) and Denis Forov (84 kg) took third places and qualified for the Beijing Games.

The three join their teammates Roman Amoyan (55 kg), Arman Adikyan (66 kg) and Yuri Patrikeyev (120 kg) who had qualified earlier.

The number of Armenian athletes entitled to take part in the Beijing Games has now risen to 22. They will represent the country in seven sports, including weightlifting, boxing, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, shooting, track and field athletics and judo.

Meanwhile, Armenia?s Armen Nazaryan registered four victories in the ordinary round of Judo World Super Cup in Moscow, Russia, to win the trophy.

Nazaryan (66 kg, from Hrazdan) will represent Armenia at the Beijing Olympics in judo this summer.
