OLYMPICS: More Medals for Armenians, Including Gold and Bronze Medals...

... unfortunately not for Team Armenia, but rather for Armenian athletes competing for other countries.

An Armenian won the Gold medal at the 2008 Olympics Games after all... unfortunately it was not for Armenia. Artur Ayvazian of the Ukranian Olympics team won the Gold medal in the Men's 50m Rifle shooting event. Another Armenian athlete on the Ukranian team, Armen Vardanyan won the bronze medal in the 66kg Greco-Roman wrestling event, giving Ukraine seven total medals, exactly two more than the Armenian team.

Another Armenian athlete, and now very well known for walking off the 3rd place pedestal in protest of his loss in the semifinals, Ara Abrahamian won the familiar bronze in the 84kg Greco-Roman wrestling category.

There are a number of other notable Armenian athletes participating on various different Olympic Teams, including Oshin Sahakian of the Iranian basketball team, Samvel Aslanyan of the Russian handball team, Biurakan Hakhverdyan of the Netherlands women's water-polo team, and David Nalbandian participating on behalf of Argentina in tennis.
