In a World Record breaking day where the Chinese and Belarus weightlifters would break the world record one after the other to take the Gold and the Silver medals respectively in the 85kg category, Tigran Varban Martirosyan of Armenia finished right behind them with the Bronze medal making it 5 bronze medals for Armenia.

The third place finish was the third such result for team Armenia, as Gevorg Davtyan(77kg) and Tigran Gevorg Martirosyan(69kg) had won the bronze medals in their weight categories.
