The First Armenian Olympic Delegation Left for BeijingOn July 31 the first Armenian Olympic Delegation, consisting of judo and shooting athletes and their coaches, left for Beijing. The others will leave for Beijing in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 7th of August. Gagik Tsarukyan, President of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia, leads the Olympic Delegation. Derenik Gabrielyan, Vice-President of NOC of Armenia, is Chef de Mission of Armenian Olympic Team. Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia, sent a message to members of Armenian Olympic Delegation. He will personally be present at the performances of Armenian athletes in Beijing. Armen Grigoryan, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Secretary General of NOC of Armenia, leaders of different sports organizations, officials, doctors and journalists are also included in the Delegation. Albert Azaryan, 3-times Olympic Champion and the best Armenian athlete of XX century, will be flag bearer of the Republic of Armenia at the Opening Ceremony of Beijing Olympic Games. The following 25 athletes will participate in 8 events at XXIX Beijing Olympic Games to be held from 8th to 24th August, 2008.
